While the Bible says all foods are permissible (1 Timothy 4:4), it also calls us to treat our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).
That means choosing foods that fuel rather than harm. Lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains help us serve God with energy and clarity.
One of My Favorite Stories
When Daniel was taken into Babylon, he was offered the finest food from the king’s table—rich meats, wines, and delicacies. Most would have seen this as a blessing, but Daniel saw a test. He knew that eating food prepared in dishonor to God would compromise his witness and his health. So he boldly asked for something simple: “Give us vegetables to eat and water to drink” (Daniel 1:12).
At first glance, this looked like self-denial. Who would choose lentils over luxury? But after ten days, Daniel and his friends appeared healthier, stronger, and sharper than those who indulged in the king’s food. Their choice of discipline became their testimony.
The lesson is clear: sometimes the healthiest path is not the easiest, but the most obedient. When we honor God with what we put into our bodies, He honors us with strength that goes beyond calories and nutrients. True health is not just about diet—it’s about devotion.
I am not saying to only eat fruits and vegetables, but it is clear that healthier food choices lead to healthier temples.
