A Smile Says a Thousand Words

Today, let’s focus on our smile! With the US election in full swing, many of us have been overcome with fighting, dislike, frowns and hardened hearts. This is not how we are supposed to live, nor is this how God wants us to live. One Day 7 of the Thanksgiving Challenge, let’s focus on the power of our smile. We should smile, we should be happy and we should be sharing it with others.

Do you know that a smile can brighten a room? Do you know when walking down the street, smiling at a stranger ignites happiness in both of you? There is something magical in the power of a smile. Not only does it look better on you physically, it brightens your mood. Those who smile more have been shown to develop fewer facial wrinkles than those who are stressed and frown a lot. Now that is something to smile about.

What does the bible say about smiling:

If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and be of good cheer’ – Job 9:27

I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live- Ecclesiastes 3:12

A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. – Proverbs 15:13

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. – Proverbs 17:22

So lets be thankful for our smile, because our smiles make others happy. Oh and one last thing – as the big purple dinosaur Barney sings:

I put a smile on
And soon I see
The whole world’s
Smiling back at me.

A smile is pretty, a smile is free
A smile is a gift to you from me
A smile is a present in a special way
‘Cause you still get to keep it when you give it away

So today, on Day 7 – Be thankful for your smile! Spread the cheer and smile more.

  1. I am thankful for smiles because I’ve seen so few of the these days since everyone is wearing face masks. I didn’t know how much I would miss them until they were gone. Thankful there will be a day in the future when they will be back again.
