Starting a Healthy Lifestyle… AGAIN!

Every year in January, I begin a healthy lifestyle which only leads to failure. I’ve tried Keto, Mediterranean, Atkins, Vegan, Vegetarian, Plant-Based and so many more, but the only one that has worked for me in the past was Weight Watchers. It was sustainable. I could eat meat, carbs, fruit, veggies, dairy, and sweets. So…

Life is a Blessing

The last month has been tough on many of us in my family. We’ve experienced grief that has never been witnessed before, at least not in my family. We lost a friend, a young friend, my nephew’s best friend, and our extended family member. We vacationed together, celebrated together, and certainly enjoyed God’s greatest gifts…

Change It Up

I was listening to a podcast yesterday by Denzel Washington, who inspires both the young and old. He said, “to get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.” That one line had such an impact on me, it was like a light bulb went off

A Christian Perspective of of Buddha

When Buddha spent those 40 days under that Bodhi Tree, he considered ‘All that is and All that will be’. He focused on the oneness with the universe. I take this to be the oneness with God.

God Does Not Close Doors By Accident

As I drive in my car, I find myself listening to podcasts, youtube or audible books regularly. This morning I turned on Joel Olsteen, who said: “God does not close doors by accident; He does it to prepare you for what is next”Joel Olsteen This statement is so profound and should be a prayer for…

The Priority: Chapter 1 -2

A wealthy family living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan understands all too well the stresses of work pressures, rotating nannies, and the finest name-brand goods.  Until one day, Bethany finds herself caught up in an affair that costs her a high-paying job and almost her family.  That is when life took a turn…

When the Door Opens

As I sit here reading “This Just Speaks to Me” by Hoda Kotb, I can truly say it does speak to me. One quote that won’t leave my mind is this… No one can close the door that God has opened for you. Quite often we walk through life not knowing what direction to go,…

Unravel It

Stress… Anxiety… Anger…Tension…Headaches…Immune Disorders…Sickness…Worry…Fear! What are these? Symptoms of stress and a tangled brain. When our minds are tangled like a ball of string, a fine knotted necklace or a strand of tangled earplugs, then we feel unease. So the trick to gaining your mind back is unravel it… strand by strand. It may stress…

Poof… Anxiety is Gone!

I was listening to a great YouTube video yesterday that made so much sense. I knew I had to share it with those of you who are experiencing anxiety, stress and depression. Not only do these three words cause emotional dismay but they wreak havoc on your health. This one quote that I heard was…

We All Need A War Room

No one has ever walked through life without challenges. However, we have an instruction manual, a king to follow and, a spirit to help us overcome any of life’s most fierce challenges. But what many of us don’t have is a ‘War Room’ to talk to God and hear his plan. For every challenge encountered,…

Day Three to a Healthier Me

Today is the beginning of Day Three of my journey to a ‘healthier me,’ and it feels great. I did make a few minor changes to the raw food diet and added some steamed vegetables and brown rice to add a little heat. But to tell you the truth, it’s been an easy two days…

21 Days to a Healthier Me

Turning 50 Never Felt So Good As many of you know, I am the Monday morning diet guru. I’ve tried every diet, read numerous health books, listened to dozens of podcasts, bought every exercise gadget and yet have only watched the scale increase year over year. Why? Well not because they didn’t work, but because…

The Aging Face of Wisdom

No one truly enjoys getting older after we reach the legal drinking age. At that age, we can do anything except run for President of the US. We are accustomed to believing that once we reach that age, we can tackle the world because we are adults. But are we? Maybe in age, but certainly…

The Dreadful World of Worry

Worry is a dreadful word, not only in definition but in truth. We all worry, probably numerous times per day. We worry about kids, bills, job performance, being on time, getting things done, our health and so many other concerns. But did you know that worry causes many of your health problems? How many of…

Don’t Dwell on Your Failure, Rise Up!

Maybe you “should’ve, could’ve, would’ve” but they are words of the past. If you tried something, and failed, then good for you. You are bigger than most, for trying. Dwelling on that failure, is not going to help you at all, in fact, it will only cause you more unnecessary demise. If you want to…

Nothing is Normal, Yet Everything is Normal

One thing we all gained from 2020 is that life can change in a snap. What we thought was unusual in 2019, is now normal. In 2019, if we saw someone wearing a hoodie, with a mask, we would have though imminent danger, yet today that look of imminent danger is normal. In 2019, a…

Face Your Fear

Did you know that you could lead a happier, more successful life by facing your fear? It’s that simple! Take risks, face your fears and watch your life evolve. Many of us lose our true selves because rather than taking on the challenge, we walk the other way. Have you ever heard the saying “Slay…

Just Finish It!

As we are wrapping up 2020, there is no better time then now to finish it! If you want to feel accomplished, reduce anxiety, find happiness, or know success than finish that task (or goal) you have been delaying. Although you may not realize it, that task or goal keeps tugging on your subconscious, subtly…

…And The Snow Always Melts

Today, across most of the east coast we were blessed with a snowstorm. It’s 7:00 am and the world is quiet except for the occasional plow that rolls by. Looking out the window is an image of peace, joy and comfort. The wind is swirling the snowflakes about, the trees are covered with white blankets…

Dream Big Dreams

Dream big dreams and make them happen. Do you often find yourself wanting something, that you could never have? Who says you can’t have it? Don’t be your own dream squasher, live the dream. This is where I should tell you to make a dream board, but I’m not going to do that. I am…

How to Create an Empowering To-Do-List

If you want to lead your life in a desired direction, than put it on paper. There is so much power in a to-do-list, in fact, it could be the smallest, yet most important step to take control of your life. This is no joke! Today, go out and buy yourself a notebook, but not…

The Bonds of Friendship

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. We ALL need friends. If there is one bit of advice I would give everyone, it is time with your friends. I found this blog most fitting today because Sunday I spent my morning with my friends, who I have the privilege of calling my besties…

Just Be Still

Have you taken the time to just be still? This may sound like such a trivial task, but it could be a life-saver for many. I’ve been reading a lot about this Great Reset, a global initiative, and a discussion for another day. But the first component of the worldwide reset is to adjust our…

It’s Beginning! Broken Gridlock

My flight was delayed at Newark Airport, so I went to the restaurant for a drink, the bar was still closed for social distancing. My life was a constant whirlwind, so this was expected. “Can I order a glass of Pinot Grigio, please?” I asked the waitress. “Sure, I’ll bring that right out.” She said.…

You Write the Script

We often walk through life with our heads down, depressed, sad, and feeling sorry for ourselves, but the reality is that you write your own script. It’s up to you to create your happiness, your outcome, and your life. God is the director, but we write the story. He has given us the tools to…

Today is a Gift: Thanksgiving 2020

After completing the 30-Day Thanksgiving Day Challenge, we realize how many things we should all be thankful for each day. Many wonderful things in our life are overlooked, tossed aside, or under-appreciated because we are too busy to recognize our gifts. Today, on Thanksgiving, one of the most cherished holidays for many, let’s take the…

A Pain Unknown

Some of us will never know the pain felt by those of color. After watching, the Bachelorette, as silly as this sounds, I understood and witnessed the true feelings of those trying to fit in. Sure, I know it’s TV and entertainment, but it is also genuine feelings of black people, who are trying to…

Perception: Flip the Switch

If there is one thing that you can change today, let it be your perception. Your perception can change your day from one of misery and stress to happiness and ease. It’s all in how you look at things. I’m sure you heard the question: Is the glass half empty or half full? This is…

Humanity First, Always

Over the past several years, I have written about walking the road to happiness, kindness, thankfulness, faithfulness and a healthier living. Each and every one of these components is a unique trait of humanity. It is our job as humans to focus on ways to bring these elements to life. With our new mask normal…

The Blessing of a Voice

Wow, the power of a voice, can be a such a blessing. We often use our voices for gossip, cuss words, and not-so-nice chatter, but what we should really be using it for, is to spread love. The bible says in Ephesians 4:29, “let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such…

Free Will is a Multiple Choice

You know life would be so easy if the right choice was always handed to us on a golden platter. But it’s not always that easy. However God has given us the study guide of life, some will read it and get an A, while others will ignore it and fail. Of course, their are…

On Days 12 and 13, let’s be thankful for our friends and enemies? What?!? Yes, you read it correctly – we need to thank God for both. Of course, our friends are always there when we need them, in good times and bad. Whether you have many friends or only a few good ones, be…

Those Who Helped Us Grow..

Today, on Day 11, let’s thank all of those who helped us grow. Of course, our families plant the seeds, but our teachers, mentors, pastors and coaches water the plants. We should all be thankful for these people in our lives, who often receive little credit, but are truly a part of who we are.…

Get up and Move, God Does Not Like Lazy

Today, on Day 9 of the Thanksgiving challenge, let’s all be thankful for our gift of Movement. Do not waste another moment, sitting in front of the television wasting away. God has given us the gift of movement, so get up an move. Maybe consider a hike, or a new exercise class or maybe even…

A Smile Says a Thousand Words

Today, let’s focus on our smile! With the US election in full swing, many of us have been overcome with fighting, dislike, frowns and hardened hearts. This is not how we are supposed to live, nor is this how God wants us to live. One Day 7 of the Thanksgiving Challenge, let’s focus on the…

Be Thankful for our Freedom

Day 6: Thanksgiving Challenge On Day 6 of the 30 Day Thanksgiving Challenge, we should be ever so thankful for our freedom. In the USA, today is election day which grants us the freedom to vote; one of the many privileges of our great country. Many people living in other countries, do not share these…

There’s Nothing Like Home

Day 5: Thanksgiving Challenge There’s nothing like home! This statement has so many wonderful meanings intertwined within it, but today we will focus on its meaning of shelter. Having a home to live in, a shelter or a place to retreat at the end of the night is definitely high on the list of thanks.…
