“30 Days of Christmas Giving”

As the Christmas season is approaching, are you beginning to feel a sense of happiness, compassion and love? I hope so, because this is what the Christmas Season is all about. On Day One of our “30 Days of Christmas Giving”, we ‘Fed the Hungry’. In Jesus’ own words,
“Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” Luke 3:10-11
Today, is Day Two and we will give our Gift of Self to others.
Helping others with a small task, calling a family member who hasn’t heard from you in a while, or genuinely enjoying one-on-one time with your children are gifts of self. Maybe you could make a special dinner for your spouse, visit a friend who’s been sick or help a neighbor rake the leaves. Whatever you decide, let it be from the heart.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
Many times throughout the day, I find myself “Yes’ing” my kids, and I have no idea what they said. I am often preoccupied and not paying attention. On Day Two, I promise to give my whole self to my family when they are speaking to me. I will listen, I will focus, and I will give 100% of myself. When your kids say, “Mom, are you listening to me?”, that is a problem. Many times, I am preoccupied and not listening. So today, I pledge to give 100% of myself to my family. But not just today, every day!
Think about how you would like to give your Gift of Self today. Whether you think it is a small gift of you or not, it will make a difference! Go give someone the GIFT OF YOU today and make it come from the heart.
I love the scripture above for so many reasons. Many people reflect on this for tithing, but I chose to reflect on this for our “30 Days of Giving”.
Let every day and every gift come from the heart! Why? Because God loves a cheerful giver.
