Before you say this is too religious for me, please read on. This article is not meant to be religious but rather inspirational. Do you know that each one of us is a unique creation of God? We are his children, and he is here for us, every day 24/7. Do you remember when you were younger, and you needed your mom or dad? You needed them to take care of you; food, shelter, love, protection, guidance, etc.? You relied on them to take care of you, for everything. And you knew that they would. That same love is what God provides each one of us, without a wink of hesitation. But so many of us, have no idea because we never took the time to listen. He loved humanity so much that he sent his son down here to die for us, to protect us, and to encourage us to join his family. That is unconditional love.
Today, I was hoping that each one of you could practice a little mindfulness meditation and prayer. Think about what God did for us. I want you all to focus on the torture he bore for us. Imagine your child beaten with a whip that had knife-like edges, hundreds of times until his body could take no more. Yes, the thought of this will make you cringe. At what point in this beating, would you yell STOP, to protect your son? Or would you continue this torture to protect humankind? Imagine for a moment a crown of thorns, being hammered into his head, until his brain was on fire? I want you to close your eyes for a moment and reflect on the beating of your child. See your child being tortured. How does this make you feel? Yes, this is a terrible story and one that so many people choose to ignore. Do you realize what God watched his son endure, do you understand what Jesus suffered for us? Then why is it so hard for us to love him? He only asks two things of us:
And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
Luke 10:27
If we loved God with everything we had, our world would be a different place. If we could love our neighbor, like ourselves, we would be treating everyone with respect, love, and dignity. There would be no more gossip, hate, lies, theft, murder, adultery, idols, fraud, etc. We would live in a world of complete, undeniable happiness.
All I am asking each of us to do is begin practicing love. Love the Lord for everything he has done for us. Follow his commandments and start reading his story. Many people say to me, “I am not reading the bible,” that’s only for religious freaks.” I giggle and say religious freaks? It’s the most read book in the world. There must be a lot of religious freaks among us”. Then I proceed to say, “what if I told you that everything you read in the bible would help you overcome every obstacle in your life? Your financial problems, your health, your marital problems, your fears. What if I told you that your life could be everything that you ever dreamed of? What if I told you that your every prayer would be answered? Would you read it then?” Why is it that so many people do not want to accept the love of our Father when he can protect us, guide us, and always be by our side? I can tell you firsthand that the peace and love that you feel inside is the most comforting feeling that you will ever feel. It feels too good to be true! But it’s not, its real.
There is nothing like the love of God.
God knew what he was doing when he sacrificed his son for us. Jesus endured the pain because he knew there was a better life. Jesus is all around us; just open your heart and listen.
Get connected! Pray daily, be mindful, and always be thankful for what God did for us. Let me say it again… It feels too good to be true!
Read you bible. Get to know God, he wants you to. Need a bible? Here is a great online store. (Please note I have no affiliation to this store, other than to provide a helpful link).
