If you want to lead your life in a desired direction, than put it on paper. There is so much power in a to-do-list, in fact, it could be the smallest, yet most important step to take control of your life. This is no joke! Today, go out and buy yourself a notebook, but not just any notebook. Go out and buy yourself the leather-bound, journal type notebooks, because they shout confidence. Hit Barnes & Noble, or some other book-store because they carry a wide assortment of journal-type notebooks. Find one, that you love, because this will be your empowerment tool.
Initially, you will want to give yourself 30 minutes to 1 hour, to forecast your future.
- Page 1 (What is your 5 year goal?)
- Page 2 (What is your yearly goal for this year – well, it may be too late for this year – so focus on 2021)
- Page 3 (What would you like to accomplish on a monthly basis)
- Page 4+ (and then each page thereafter, will be your daily goals, which you will focus on daily, so today, only focus writing down today’s goals)
The initial task may be daunting, but each day thereafter will be done with ease. You may require two TO-DO-LISTS; I know that I do. You may need one for home, and another for work.
Every morning, upon rising, I grab my cup of coffee and lay out my day. What do I have to do today, in order to feel accomplished and on-track, especially now during the holidays. This list should include doctors appointments, cleaning, shopping, car pooling, paying bills, home-depot runs, banking, meditating, prayer, landscaping, etc.. But most importantly it should include “Me Time’. Once you have jotted down your day, then begin. Once a task has been completed, cross it off. Yes, there will be many days, that you will be adding to this list, as your day goes on, but that’s life. And this list will keep you on track.
Have you ever gone to ShopRite, for a weekly run, without a list? How many things did you forget to buy? Lists keep you on track and focused. But their is power in a to-do-list, it marks a pathway for your goals. This list empowers YOU!
Do you know the feeling of accomplishment? It feels really, really good. When you actually mark off the last task of the day, it empowers you. You conquered the day, that you planned. Now on the weekends, I generally look at my monthly goals and add them to my weekend to do list. Sometimes my monthly goals will include things like, clean out the closets, change the curtains, plan a summer vacation, clean out the garage, save an extra 10% of my pay (so I create a plan), etc. I am telling you, that when you create a to-do-list, your life will change dramatically. You actually find yourself, getting things done, finding more time, and avoiding procrastination.
At the end of every month, I check off my monthly accomplishments. Do this for the yearly and five-year plan. Your life will blossom, with a plan.
Go get that journal, and begin empowering yourself with your personal TO-DO-List, today!
What does the bible say about goals?
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Proverbs 21:5
Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house. Proverbs 24:27
